How we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Last updated August 2026

This policy explains how CarQuant (ABN 93 189 088 397) handles personal information, and reflects our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

It applies to the CarQuant website and any related services we operate.

Account information: where you register, your name, email address and any details you choose to add. Where you commission a report, our payment processor collects your payment details; we do not store full card numbers.

Material you submit: listing text you paste for analysis, questions you ask, and any other content you send us.

Usage information: pages viewed, features used, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and similar technical data collected through analytics.

We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and ask that you do not submit it.

To provide and operate the service, including generating reports and answering questions; to administer accounts and process payments; to communicate with you about the service; to analyse and improve the model and the site; and to comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information.

We use third-party providers to operate the service. These include a hosting and content delivery provider, a payment processor for the report, an analytics provider, and an artificial intelligence provider that processes listing text and questions in order to generate a response.

Material you submit for analysis is transmitted to that AI provider for processing. Do not paste information you would not want processed by a third party.

Each provider is engaged to handle information only for the purposes we specify.

Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. By using CarQuant you consent to that disclosure. Where Australian Privacy Principle 8 requires it, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but you acknowledge that we may not be able to enforce Australian privacy protections in every jurisdiction.

We use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences and collect analytics. There are no accounts, so nothing is used to keep you signed in. You can block or delete cookies through your browser, though parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations. Submitted listings and questions are retained only as long as needed to provide and improve the service. We destroy or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed for a permitted purpose.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact nicholas@carquant.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period and will explain our reasons if we refuse a request.

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, contact us at nicholas@carquant.com.au and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Written by the operator and not reviewed by an Australian lawyer. It states how the site actually works rather than borrowing another company's terms, which is the honest version of an unreviewed document, not a substitute for advice.
