Projected value in five years
The case for and against
The hand-assembled Nismo engine, built at a dedicated facility, gives it genuine mechanical exclusivity within the R35 lineage and Nurburgring lap-time credentials that carry real weight with performance collectors. Two Australian sales at $300,000 in 2022 sit far above the $215,000 this record previously inferred, and only around 90 examples reached Australia - though one listing puts the figure at 46.
Values fell in the first two years after launch and have only recently stabilised rather than clearly appreciating. Servicing the Nismo-tuned twin-turbo AWD driveline at a specialist level costs more than the standard GT-R, and the market remains niche at 46 days on market. Australia now has two completed Nismo sales, but both are from 2022 and nothing has traded publicly since, so the value rests on carrying four-year-old results forward on an assumed flat market. The two sales also made identical money at 5,652 and 29,880 kilometres, which means the odometer adjustment on this record is asserted rather than measured.

Similar cars, and what they cost to run
$300,000 at Forrest ACT on 29 November 2022, a 2017 build complied June 2017 but not registered until October 2018, one owner from new, 5,652 kilometres, 56 bids. $300,000 at Townsville QLD on 24 June 2022, a 2018 car, two owners, 29,880 kilometres, 39 bids.

On the 1.7 per cent per 10,000 carried here, against the 45,000 kilometres this record expects, the Forrest car normalises to $281,200 and the Townsville car to $292,500 - so after the odometer term is applied, the car with a fifth of the distance is worth four per cent LESS. Two cars is not a distance curve, but an adjustment that reverses the ordering of the only two observations is not measuring anything on this record.
Both sales are four years old and there is nothing since, so the value now rests on a different weakness: not absent evidence, but stale evidence. $287,000 is the average of the two normalised results, $281,200 and $292,500, carried forward on a flat market - and A FLAT MARKET IS AN ASSUMPTION, not a measurement. The one thing that supports it is the May 2023 lot recorded below: a 2018 Track Edition, a lesser model, passed in at a $290,000-$330,000 estimate. A lesser car failing to clear $290,000 six months after two Nismos cleared $300,000 is consistent with a market that had stopped rising, which is what $287,000 assumes.
The Forrest listing states the car is understood to be one of only 46 Nismos imported to Australia by Nissan, and one of eight in Low Sheen Grey Metallic. This record carries 90 Australian deliveries. The two figures may both be right if 46 covers a single model year and 90 the 2017-22 run, and they may not. The scarcity score below rests on 90 and the conflict is recorded rather than resolved, because resolving it would mean picking one source over another with no reason to.
Only six R35 lots appear worldwide and three sold, a 50 per cent clearance too thin to read a direction from. Nismo results are EUR140,000 in February 2020 and US$168,000 in October 2024; an ordinary 2017 GT-R made US$78,840 in April 2021, which places the Nismo at roughly twice a standard car in the same market.

The evidence on this model is thin and the report says so on its cover. Read a complete one on a real car first. Seventeen sections, no account, nothing to pay.
One line of email when this desk publishes a call on a Nissan GT-R Nismo, or records a new Australian sale of one. Nothing else, no schedule, and on a quiet model you may hear nothing for months, which is itself worth knowing about a car you are chasing.
